Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using WritingGrade ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Description of Service

WritingGrade is an AI-powered writing assessment tool that scores student writing against educational rubrics and provides feedback. The Service is intended for use by teachers, tutors, and parents.

Accounts

  • You must sign in with a valid Google account to use the Service.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
  • One account per person. Sharing accounts is not permitted.

Credits and Payment

  • The Service uses a credit-based system. New accounts receive free credits.
  • Credits are consumed when running assessments or generating improved versions.
  • Credits may be earned through referrals or purchased when that feature becomes available.
  • Credits are non-transferable and non-refundable.
  • If an assessment fails due to a system error, credits are automatically refunded.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any purpose other than legitimate educational assessment.
  • Upload content that is illegal, harmful, or inappropriate.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or abuse the Service or its AI systems.
  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent credit limits or referral restrictions.
  • Use automated tools or scripts to access the Service without permission.

AI-Generated Content

  • Assessment scores, feedback, and improved versions are generated by AI and should be treated as suggestions, not definitive evaluations.
  • AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies. Teachers and parents should review results and apply professional judgement.
  • AI-generated improved versions of student writing are intended as learning examples and should not be submitted as student work.

Intellectual Property

  • You retain ownership of all student writing and content you upload.
  • You grant us a limited licence to process your content for the purpose of providing the Service.
  • The WritingGrade name, logo, and website design are our intellectual property.

Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to inaccurate assessments, service interruptions, or data loss. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the preceding 12 months.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these terms or for any other reason at our discretion. You may stop using the Service at any time.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
